Cabaret at the Christman
Renowned leaders in New York Style Cabaret, Rick aand Mary Jo were thrilled when they were contacted by Bill Conti of Stambaugh Auditorium and asked for their thoughts about a Cabaret Series right here in Youngstown. This new series, "Cabaret At The Christman," will premiere on Saturday, November 22. This series will bring New York Style Cabaret and Music Education, back to Youngstown. Rick and Mary Jo will be producing as well as hosting each of the four performances in the season, and Rick will also be in charge of auditions for the Master Classes, given the day after each performance.
Open Call: Male/Female singers are invited to audition on Saturday, November 1st from Noon through 3pm to be considered for participation in a Master Class on “The Principles of Belt,” by renowned stage performer and instructor, Tony Richards. The Master Class will be on Sunday, November 23rd, from 1 – 4 pm, at the historic Stambaugh Auditorium’s Christman Room. 10 individuals will be selected from the auditions to participate one-on-one with Tony, and the rest may be invited to observe the class. Anyone curious about how to identify these principles in themselves and in others is encouraged to attend – especially students and their teachers. This is an interactive program. If selected to participate, the cost is $60 dollars. If interested in observing the class, the cost is $30 dollars. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the class. All interested in auditioning should be prepared to sing up to 3 minutes and perform either; a cappella, with CD accompaniment, or with live piano accompaniment.
